The first full year of operation for RMK Films Inc. has been very productive. First quarter activities included pre-production, shoot and post-production of Visitor, an original short film written and directed by Ron King. A writing collaboration began with Ron and writer/director Jessica Janos on the feature film Fallout which includes footage from a 16 mm black and white short shot by Ron in 1984 in New York City. Ron and Jessica traveled to New York conducting research and photographing locations including Central Park, midtown, East Village and Battery Park. Ron also teamed up with screenwriter Alexander Cook to begin developing the feature length version of Visitor. The short comedy Rose is a Rose is a Rose written by Ron and Daniel Hagen and directed by Ron was enthusiastically received at the Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The second quarter began with the World Premiere of the one-hour “museum edit” of The Millionaires’ Unit – The First U.S. Naval Aviators in World War I at the New-York Historical Society in Manhattan. Ron was co-director (with Darroch Greer), producer and cinematographer for this documentary produced by Humanus Documentary Films Foundation. Rose is a Rose is a Rose won the Silver Eddy – Professional Short award at the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival. Visitor (short) completed post production and was submitted to film festivals for the 2020 season. The third quarter began with a special screening for cast and crew of Visitor at Sony Pictures Entertainment in Culver City. Ron and Daniel Hagen began writing Ludd Life, an eight-part comedy series based on their short Rose is a Rose is a Rose. Ron began collaborating with author Marc Wortman on a limited series for television (narrative) of The Millionaires’ Unit. In August Ron travelled to England where he photographed multiple locations for the series in London, Aldershot, Shuttleworth and at the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome. The end of the month featured a full cast reading of the first draft of the feature length version of Visitor. The quarter ended with the casting and writing of a new short by Ron entitled Ransomed. The fourth quarter included pre-visualization work by Ron on Visitation, a music video for an original song written, performed and recorded by Alex Wright and Two-Ton Bridge. Rehearsals and location scouting for Ransomed were conducted. This short will be shot exclusively on iPhone. Business development continued and reports to company advisors and investors were completed. The quarter ended with work begun on a sizzle reel for Fallout featuring an original costume design by Swinda Reichelt.
